you may know that i’m co-chair of our school’s annual gala/dinner/auction, which took place over the weekend. you may also know that i absolutely love our sweet little school. you may know that i spend so much time there that my husband calls it my “pretend-job”, the one i like most but don’t actually get paid to do. you may know that the auction is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. you may even know that i spent eight hours ironing satin chair-covers in preparation. but unless you’ve really been there, you really don’t know just how amazingly special this place is, how amazing my friends (fellow-parents, teachers) are. you can’t imagine how much fun we have, putting in hours upon hours of the day and night in preparation, laughing all the way. you may not know just how much love and generosity there was. you may not know just how deeply our love and loyalty for each other, and for each other’s children, runs. you may not know how many of those specialty cocktails we had, or how many hours after midnight we went home. but you KNOW that we have something unique and special.

i’m humbled and happy and challenged to grow and laugh more with every passing year.
it’s an amazing thing. it’s a wonderful thing.
