i’m one of those that tends to think Memorial Day Weekend (particularly a hot one like this) signals the beginning of summer. my literal-minded 6-year-old, however, in cooperation with a school schedule that doesn’t slow down until mid-June, tells me it’s not really summer yet.
ok.
so far our summer-preview has been all about good friends and frolicking, jelly bracelets, painted nails and water pistols (we’re totally pro-2nd amendment when it comes to water guns; they’re also great for watering down the twisty slide so it goes fast and doesn’t burn the bejeebus out of your legs), sprinklers and shared beach-towels, fresca, fresh fruit and 7-11 slurpees, sand and swimsuits and little sisters who still won’t walk unless they’re holding daddy’s hand. one day we even saw a large pink gorilla sitting alone on a park bench.
it’s a good start, a fun preview. enough to get us through the next month, which is the busiest in recent memory. every bit of that busy is something good/great/grand, but there’s just so much of it. it was nice to take a deep breath before we dive into the deep end.
here we go!
