[five random things: tuesday]

~ Bear is home sick from work today (yes, we’re still celebrating flu-palooza 2011. pass the ginger-ale!). i’m feeling mildly opportunistic (and maybe a wee bit excited) and plan to take his home-sick day as an opportunity to actually sneak out and get my hair cut/tend to some much-needed eyebrow maintenance.

~ i’m not feeling overly guilty; everyone will be happier when mama is more properly shorn and groomed. it’s a contagious joy.

~ i think i’m going to start teaching piano lessons again. i really do think every kid should have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument.

~ for some reason i’ve never put much music on this computer (because we’ve faced the harsh reality that we must pay real money for all the things we download, so we just don’t download much. also, i listen to the sirius radio a lot while i’m sitting at the table pretending to work. i also like pandora in theory, but in practice i just can’t go without the ability to fast forward every song at least 20-seconds before the end.) today i somehow ended up with my itunes open, the volume up, and “shuffle” selected, which has translated into a random brain-jarring loop of kanye west, rem, and my own singing (from that finished but unreleased cd) played over and over. this mix is seriously lacking something.

~ speaking of music, did you know it’s one of my goals in life to meet/have a nice conversation with david bowie (even though i just know i’d be horribly nervous, dorky, and tongue-tied around him)? Bear told me there’s a rumor that mr. bowie has put on some weight/”let himself go” and is subsequently not getting out-and-about in the city as much due to embarrassment. wha, huh?? david bowie, since i’m sure you’ve just googled yourself and ended up on this page (mesmerized by the pretty baby pictures and unable to click away), you should totally call me! i’m uncomfortably zaftig right now, too; we can go for power walks while the kids are at school! also, i’m sure you look fine.
