these were taken on the afternoon she turned nine weeks old. by the next afternoon (when she turned nine weeks + one day), she had grown exponentially. the changes are subtle, but this morning i could see that her lashes are longer, her legs are chunkier, and she just feels more substantial. sometimes it’s like that, just overnight.

[a few random things]

~ apparently 12 hours of stomach flu equals a 4 pound weight loss for me. too bad i’m so thirsty and hungry now…

~ yes, mama got the stomach flu, but not until four days after emma (so i’d been tricked into thinking i’d escaped it). it was really, really gross.

~ not that it deterred me from singing the 4pm mass yesterday, even though i was still really poorly and worried about passing out on the altar. a girl’s gotta sing if a girl wants to be paid.

~ much better now, thanks.

~ i’m eternally thankful to The Mister who thoroughly cleaned yesterday to de-germify and un-gross the apartment. i really can’t imagine being married to one of those guys that doesn’t change diapers or wash dishes or run the sweeper or take the big kid to birthday parties or bring home hot-out-of-the-oven Patsy’s pizza after taking the car for inspection. teamwork (and a little pampering) wins the day.

~ as i was stuck on the couch feeding eliza this afternoon, i caught the end of my third-favorite molly ringwald movie: pretty in pink. gosh, i loved the molly ringwald movies, but the prom dress she makes for herself at the end sure is unflattering and kind of fugly.

~ it really bothers me when people don’t know how/where/when to use apostrophes. sure, i’m averse to capital letters, i over-use ellipses, i tend to make up my own rules for hyphenation, and i’m a big fan of the oxford comma, but it’s like nails on a chalkboard when i see “your” where “you’re” should be, or “this months” in place of “this month’s”. i’m just sayin’…

~ it’s entirely possible i’m just a little cranky as an effect of post-flu-hangoverishness and/or failure to win that gajillion-dollar lottery last week.

ah well…hope the rest of your weekend is smooth sailing and germ-free. xoxo
