this kid is a little bit crazy. when faced with a 3-foot pile of snow, she just might ask someone to throw her in, then proceed to bury herself up to the armpits as if she were at the beach. in the absence of hypothermia and complaint (and with those distinctly-emma shrieks of laughter), i don’t have any problems with this behavior…it just makes me chilly to watch.
in other news: we finally got beatles rock band for the wii (i’ve wanted it for ages, y’all!), and in between my self-imposed bouts of “urgh…is this a head-cold?” bed-rest, i’ve been playing a bit. much to my chagrin, my natural ability tends to skew much closer to Ringo-levels and nowhere near the quiet genius that is George Harrison. surely it’s the head-cold/pregnancy/low platelets/carpal tunnel in my strumming hand that’s holding me back, right? hmph.

today i’m thankful for:
~ a husband that will entertain emma, make fresh coffee, sweep the floor, clean out the litter box and do the dishes while i’m feeling poorly (and not make me feel the least bit guilty about it)
~ caller id and the ability to turn the ringer off (i really don’t like the phone all that much, and sometimes dream of disconnecting it altogether…but then i’d miss talking to my mama)
~ family dinners and just enough energy to get up and make mashed potatoes + meatloaf
~ an evening spent snuggling on the couch with emma, watching a dvd of my favorite musical, into the woods (she now wants to name the baby Eliza Belle RAPUNZEL, but i think it’s a bit unwieldy…)
~ soft bedding, fluffy pillows and the moment when you finally find that comfy position in bed
~ a brand new remote control to replace the one that’s been mostly-broken for months
~ commercials for the shake weight, which still make me giggle every time
~ a few more days before the serious deadlines and appointments start back up
~ three amazingly sweet notes i’ve gotten in my inbox this week

hope you’re thawing out and taking it easy, too.

I’ve been commenting in reverse… starting at the bottom of the page and then reading my way up.
I LOVE your blog.
Emma looks like a child who ADORES life and just devours it insatiably …. she looks full of joy…! How fun to be her mother.
And you sound so fun … I see where she gets it from! You would clearly make a fabulous rockette. I’m all for it. And you are pregnant and you walked through the snow for fourteen? fifteen? blocks????? I’M NOT WORTHY to read your blog!!!! You amaze me. I most certainly enjoyed my visit. I’d love to stop by again, if that is alright?
