thankful for my camera and the memories it helps me hold. thankful for white twinkle lights and personalized ornaments. thankful for david sedaris’ short stories and haruki murakami’s kafka on the shore, which i’m so enjoying. thankful for candles that smell like winter. thankful for little ballerinas and the years before insecurities set in. thankful for curiosity and creativity. thankful for the one person on the bus who offered up his seat to the pregnant lady today (an old man with a cane; i didn’t accept his offer, but it was endearing all the same). thankful for the way my heart swells when i listen to pavarotti recordings. thankful that i remembered it’s time to renew my driver’s license before it expires. thankful for our yearly trips to disney world and the fun my family has together. thankful for reasonable return policies. thankful for payday. thankful that i can still fasten at least one button of my winter coat. thankful for chalk drawings. thankful for linen handkerchiefs and tissues with lotion + aloe. thankful for my vintage mink stole which reminds me of aunt bernie and makes me feel like a lady. thankful for long emails from friends reminding me not to stress about the small stuff. thankful for people that remember to say thanks. thankful for people that really want to help. thankful for people that really want to listen. thankful for parades and cotton candy (in any color but blue). thankful for lucky paperclips we find on our walks every day. thankful for that crinkle in her nose when she laughs. thankful for bedtime.
