[very random things]
~ this weekend one neighbor saved the day by babysitting with 5-minutes’ advance notice when we were in a jam, another neighbor gave emma a two large stacks of hand-me-down board games, and yet another neighbor showed up at the door with fresh (perfectly fudgy) brownies. our little corner of nyc sometimes feels like a small town, in all the best ways.
~ i love it when the kid learns all the words to my favorite songs
~ we saw toy story 3 this weekend, which i loved very much. while i’ll admit i really liked watching this one (and UP last year) in 3D, i’m really tired of the trend of every movie being a 3D movie. i don’t like wearing those glasses, it takes my eyes too long to adjust, and i think $45 (before mandatory snacks) is way to much for a family of three to see a movie. also, who are those people paying $5 for a box of skittles?!
~ i go through spells when i practically live on subway veggie subs, then abruptly dislike them for months at a time. i must be back to the former, because i’ve eaten one for lunch and dinner nearly every day for a week. sometimes i think i should just go buy some veggies and bread at the grocery, but somehow i don’t think it would be the same…i guess i’m just a fast-food baby at heart.
~ i slept from the minute i got home last night (8pm) until nearly noon this morning, and i still feel groggy and addled and sleep-deprived. ahh…one more frantic week before absolute free time. one more week….
~ if i send in our passports for renewal this week, i wonder how quickly we’ll have them back? i just want to take a little road-trip to quebec, but i don’t think they’ll let us back into the homeland without valid passports. hmm…i wonder what would happen if we got stuck in quebec? would we automatically get free healthcare? would we suddenly have adorable french-canadian accents? would we be inherently more polite?
~ when singing professionally, one had best not wear perfume or scented lotion or even fragrant shampoo, lest one hurts the allergenic sensibilities of one’s fellow musicians. that’s fine and well (if kind of a bummer) in the cooler months, but during summer gigs, this means i live in fear of smelling like sweat and summer-schmutz (or that someone will complain that the many preventive layers of deodorant i’m wearing are too fragrant). my job is funny sometimes.

hope y’all had a very happy weekend. i may be a little sleepy, but i’m also feeling really grateful for everything, right down to that perfect goat cheese omelet i had for brunch and the way emma snuck out of bed tonight to ask for “four more kisses and four more hugs”.
i’m grateful for you all, too. you know that, right?
xoxo
