just some pictures for now; not much time to write (or sit still, for that matter). emma’s last day of school/year-end program coincides with my first day of Beethoven rehearsal, so everything is on a tight schedule today. we’re kicking into gear for the next project, but i’ll miss seeing em’s teachers and friends every day. i’ll miss the structure of our days and the little bits of adult conversation i looked forward to every afternoon at pick-up and drop-off. i’ll miss that hour of time every afternoon i had to myself; never enough time to get much done, but time that was quiet and mine nevertheless. i’ll miss the way em always put a sticker on my hand after school, rewarding me for who knows what. i’ll miss the way she comes running out the school doors, giving me a giant excited hug.

i’ll miss the little things from this year, but i’m looking forward to free time and summer clothes and running through sprinklers and meeting up in the park and taking pictures. i’m looking forward to growing and daydreaming this summer, planning and preparing for the things that are coming next. i’m pretty bad at goodbyes, and endings make me nostalgic, but we’re all ready for a little break. now is the time.
