[things i love, today]

~ bargaining with the flower-guy; getting a $7 bouquet of peonies for $4 (which was, sincerely, the entirety of my cash-on-hand)

~ a weekday lunch date with my husband. my handsome, sweet husband who vacuumed the floors while i was out and is now playing a perfect playlist from the other computer (nobody can master the avett brothers to janes addiction to beastie boys transition like he can…)

~ barbecue chicken pizza and pizzeria uno. ok, i don’t love love it, and i always pick the chicken off… but it doesn’t make my tummy growl-y like their regular pie (chicago pizza, like most chicago-things, doesn’t agree with me), and today 20% of the total check is being donated to emma’s school

~ emma’s school, her perfect pre-k teacher, and an upcoming class program that has given emma reason to ‘practice’ singing Mamma Mia dozens of times every day

~ road trips to see good friends in good shows (eg: going to Connecticut to see R.Claus, the master woodwind player on the Beauty and the Beast tour)

~ our hard-working, pretty efficient GPS in the car that means i never have to print a map or highlight a route

~ impromptu imaginary tea parties (as opposed to silly, only funny in an ironic way, right wing tea parties):

~ paper that’s slick and silky and easy to write little notes on

~ wearing sandals and a sundress after days and days of rainy cold

~ people that share their stories and their secrets. people that make me laugh. people that love with their whole hearts.

~ kindness

~ sensibility

~ stripes
