are you having a good weekend?

it’s raining cats and dogs here, which is ok because we really didn’t have any must-do items on today’s list. we did venture downtown to have brunch at Penelope, which is charming and quite good. our table had a drawer in it where patrons leave “secret notes” on scraps of paper, and we had fun sifting through the messages. we just left an autograph by someone who signs herself as “Emma 4″.

it’s umbrella-destroying weather (i counted at least eight abandoned inside-out umbrellas on our walk), but we’ve all got good rainboots and emma laughs hysterically when the windy rain starts whipping into a frenzy, so it lightens the journey.

i’ve had the nine inch nails song down in it in my head all day, which is weird because i haven’t heard that song in, oh….15 years or so (”rain rain go away” must be my secret mantra).

sunday will be a typically busy one (two masses to sing, photoshoot in the afternoon, lots of busywork in the moments between), so it was nice to take a day off. we watched Julie and Julia again, which would be so much better if it was all fabulously joyful julia child in france and no narcissistically vapid ‘julie’ parts (i couldn’t even finish that book, i so disliked the writer-character). still, it managed to make me hungry for boeuf bourguignon (marie-philippe, are you reading this, mon amie? J’ai faim!) and want to live in paris someday.

…so many big dreams. always.
