[concern]

my heart is truly and completely with the people of Haiti today. reading the news of this horrendous quake in a country already so battered and weak, i am humbled and concerned and heart-aching, and once again reminded that even my greatest troubles are nothing devastating; i’m so very blessed and so very lucky and so very grateful for my life, my family, my friends, my health (as precarious as it is sometimes; i’m ok), my circumstances, and i aim to help in any way i can. it’s a helpless feeling, watching these tragedies from afar. right now, mindfulness, a donation to the red cross, and best thoughts and prayers are all i’ve got.

[on a lighter note]

one of the great things about having gazzilions of pictures in the archives is that when i’m stuck in a moment, or sick in bed, or just a little blue, i can find joy in the archives. i only got as far back as november (i save pictures in subfolders by year>month>day) when i came across these from our last visit to the Bronx Zoo. this little gorilla was watching emma for a while, then sat in front of her with his back turned. em just watched quietly for a while, even as the kids around us where making lots of noise, jumping around, hoping to catch the animal’s attention.

after a few minutes, the gorilla turned around, put his face to the glass, and gave her what looked like a big kiss.

funny enough, she was stalked/mimicked by a baby gorilla at the LA Zoo once, too. she must have a special kind of animal magnetism.
