[two gifts under the tree, both in little blue boxes!]
. . .
this was the first year emma was interested in decorating the tree with me, and i loved going through each ornament, explaining to her where/who each one came from and what memory it holds (the personalized mickeyball from our disneyworld trip, starfish from cape cod, one from her godmother as a ’1st christmas’ gift in 2006, etc…). her favorite was the yellow submarine ornament, and she woke up this morning telling eric “Dad! THE BEATLES are on our tree! in a yellow sun-a-reen, just like the song!!!”
i love this kid.
and i love the traditions of the holidays.
…and now i’m back to work, in hopes that soon we can really start celebrating soon.
. . .

[dizzy hides back there pretending to guard the tree. i know he's actually just drinking the water in the tree-stand when i'm not looking. that fabulous cityscape tree skirt was handmade by the same sweet friend that sent the yellow sun-a-reen ornament. i have the bestest friends, i do.]

We had similar excitement going through the ornaments. It made me all the more glad that we have a tree filled with special memory ornaments and not one filled with matchy matchy balls or a theme…
These pictures are so wonderful! Makes me feel even more holiday-ish, like I need to set the computer DOWN and go bake some cookies now.
Merry merry!

I have to agree with Emma… LOVE the yellow submarine ornament with its vintage look. Happy Holidays!

you know we love ornament collecting too
every ornament has a cool story behind it and the sun-a-reen equals backstage cirque du soleil tours and our short-lived ambition to become acrobats:)
i have to take pics of our new additions for this year – we have quite a few new stories to tell around here
