i intended to be taking some rest, but when somebody calls you to sing a big greek funeral, you just can’t ignore the call. so that’s tuesday. also, i’m hosting thanksgiving this week and groceries must be procured sometime soon. (re: thanksgiving. i love our little family, but there’s gonna be a whole lot of fixin’s for the few number of people we’re hosting, so if you’re reading this and within an easy commute, you really really should join us thursday.) oh, and i have not forgotten that people are waiting for some photo edits for their christmas cards. and my own holiday cards are begging to be done. (re: my holiday cards. have you moved? do you want to stay on the mailing list? did i somehow fail to add you to the mailing list in the first place? email me, please.) oh, and i keep misplacing that post-it note reminding me that dad’s birthday is less than a week away, and although he doesn’t ever complain if all he gets is a phone call, it seems that i can surely get at least a card in the mail by then. oh, and! i’m searching for the perfect advent calendar but don’t like the prices on any of the perfect ones i’ve seen so far (perfect in this case being one that looks like a little christmas tree and every day you open a little drawer or box that contains a little ornament to put on the little tree), and i’m quite sure i shouldn’t be spending time on such a big craft project but i keep really really considering it… so you see, my mind’s running as quick as ever, even if my body is feeling slow and sluggish and all my dear loved ones are encouraging me to be as lazy and i want to be.

[tuesday's list: random things]

~ these pictures of mom and emma melt my heart. the way they look at each other, the way they laugh, the bond they have… we’re a very lucky family in so very many ways.

~ i have a key to our neighbor’s apartment. today i let myself in, put a freshly-baked pumpkin pie on the table, and left. i felt mildly guilty about letting myself in without prior arrangement, but they said they enjoyed the pie, so i guess it all works out.

~ i’ve been neglecting almost everything else on the dvr, but i look forward to mondays on dr. phil when we get to delve deeper and deeper into the train wreck of the dr. phil family. how did sweet little alexandra get so very lost in life?! dr. phil is obviously not the powerfully pervasive positive influence he’d like to be.

~ also on tv: i seriously adore craig ferguson, and i blame 90% of the world’s ills on jay leno and the people (if any) that like him

~ i got a really fabulous new coat (vintage-inspired faux-fur collar, flattering neckline, pretty fabric, well-placed pockets) for $40 last week. this makes me very very happy.

~ emma got her first report card/parent teacher conference today. i’m so in love with her wonderful teacher and her sweetly perfect little school.

~ i’ve never read any of the twilight books, and i probably won’t, even though i know my 15-year-old self would absolutely love them.

~ they were playing “do they know it’s christmas time at all?” in the grocery store the other day, and normally i’d feel like that was rushing the whole holiday season, but i’m crazy-excited to decorate for christmas this year. can you come visit? i really think you should; it will be cozy and festive and homey and fun.
