[random notes, week-end roundup]
we had houseguests this week; a photographer-friend (and her husband) that i’ve been in contact with on the internet for several years. we fell right in, talking and talking for days, sharing tips and secrets and life stories. it was lovely and inspiring and slightly exhausting (all that stay-up-late talk talk talking), and i’ve not a single picture to show for it…. the nights were long, because all of our days were packed to the edges with work, meetings, obligations, etc.
they arrived at our house the day after an intense and destructive thunderstorm hit NYC. walking through my favorite spot in Central Park, Harlem Meer, we saw countless downed trees (the park lost hundreds of trees in the storm), unusually mucky lake-water, freaked out ducks, and yellow “police line – do not cross” barriers everywhere.
the ducks felt a little swarm-y. we watched them for a while, and they came to the side of the water and just stared at us (we didn’t have food, nor pretend to). finally, 15 or so giant ducks got out of the water and marched toward us like a scene from a horror movie… it was a short stand-off while they finally accepted that we really didn’t have any food for them, and we all parted ways.
more of the Mostly Mozart festival tonight. i love this one, love singing for a living, love inspiring and being inspired.
