[30 things in 30 days] thing fourteen: our orchid
Bear bought this orchid in celebration of my most recent performance with the NY Philharmonic. that was in june, and the orchid’s not only still alive, it’s budded and blossomed and bloomed repeatedly. i tend to think of myself as more of a plant-killer, so watching and nurturing this sweet purple orchid makes me cautiously excited.
it’s been a summer of growth all around.
. . .
[30 things in 30 days] thing fifteen: yellow flower
our neighbors have a lovely terrace, big enough for kids’ bike riding, a small swimming pool, and lots of plants and flowers. the light and weather are lovely, but i’m still continually amazed that the flowers flourish there despite repeated attacks with soccer balls, toy racing cars, and little-boy scooter crashes. sometimes we’re more resilient than we know.
