[the light sure is nice at the white castle. the burgers aren't bad, either.]

. . . . . . . . .

wow. the morning does fly by, doesn’t it? i had several kid-free hours to myself this morning and big plans to tackle a to-do list. instead, it’s 15 minutes before i need to leave for rehearsal, i’m just finding time to blog and i never got around to cleaning the tub or the floor. ahhh….but the coffee drinking and book-reading were good.

here’s a little song for you from emma. i like the middle part where she kind of forgets the words, then looks up at the camera like “ok, here’s the rest of the song.”

other things i adore:

~ books so enrapturing that you stay up all night to finish them
~ smudge-proof lipstick that doesn’t end up on your kid or your coffee mug
~ the music of andrew bird
~ seeing the piggy bank get closer and closer to full
~ knitting with cashmerino yarn (sooo silky, it feels like magic)
~ new shoes that don’t need ‘broken in’, but feel like walking on clouds
~ super-thin meyer lemon cookies from trader joe’s (ok. most everything from trader joe’s.)

i’m off to rehearse some Mahler…. hope your day is calm, cool, and collected.

I’m sure you’ve noticed that she actually held key for most of the song – she fell off in the last phrase, but she held a consistent key of C Major for that whole thing. Better than most American Idol auditioners do. All the music exposure seems to be having an effect.

We need to see one another. I just got a puppy. We’ll have to talk. It’s been unacceptably long, this time.

It’s hilarious, Miss, that she sounds just like you did when you sang “Twinkle Twinkle” on your Uncle Lenny’s tape recorder. You both even forgot the words at exactly the same place! One difference, though – You sang two octaves lower than Emma. Definitely belonged in the bass section of the pre-school childrens’ choir!
