. . . . .
time’s been flying by with way-too-many sick days, endlessly runny noses and persistent tummy aches, gloomy-rainy-days and suddenly-sunny-days, last-days-of-school and rehearsal-evenings, baking-afternoons, movie-nights and various and sundry other grand and everyday adventures.
to celebrate the last week of classes, there was a hoedown at em’s school (that picture above is NOT a cowgirl. it’s not even just a cowboy. it’s a “cowboy BOY”, ok?!). for the hoedown lunch she loaded a full plate of everything but chowed down on watermelon and extra helpings of pickles, then joined the rest of the school in a spirited round of old macdonald and the hokey pokey.
in some of our quieter time, the kids and i found a super-cool children’s library to pass an entire afternoon. the yellow walls, pretty window light, and plethora of toys reminded me of my mom’s house, so it’s no wonder the kid felt so at home. she got so wrapped up with the computer, the puzzles, the dollhouse, the lego table, and the train set that she didn’t actually look at a single book while we were there.
if i were a wealthy benefactor, well-lit libraries with child-sized chairs and beautiful fireplaces would be my favorite cause. such a treasure.
