. . . . . . . . .
hey you guys, guess what? i’m a total liar!
well, not a TOTAL liar.
ok, not really a “liar” at all, actually. more of a “person who says she’s going to do things and then really doesn’t”.
like, laundry…i said i was getting to it two days (two weeks, even) ago, and it’s STILL not done!
but that’s not the GOOD part of the story. the GOOD part of the story is that apparently i totally made up the thing about the laundry service in our building being closed. it’s still alive and well, and for practically the same cost as doing it myself (that sounds like another lie, but it’s not. not really.) i can have professional launderers do their magic wash/fluff/fold/deliver! huzzah! today really IS laundry day.
so what have i been doing if not laundry?! oh, just still trying to find more time in the day (i am currently babysitting oliver five days a week 6:45am-6:30pm. when wondering why i’m so exhausted lately, i didn’t even consider that might be a factor. add to that the fact that emma’s been waking up every night lately – now with nosebleeds!). it’s been one of those weeks where big joys were balanced by big emotional pains, and i don’t have time to process much at all. falling behind in emails and phone calls, wanting to talk but not having much to say, wanting to get away for a few days but also wanting to just stay in and enjoy the world outside and inside my window, wanting to be there for other people, but recognizing that i need to take extra care of myself right now. sorry to say, sleepy headache-laden evenings don’t make for interesting blog reading/writing. stick with me, though; i’ll get my groove back soon…
ok, list time.
[things i love]
~ the word splendor. i was reminded of the word splendor while randomly looking up synonyms of the word brilliance (great use of non-existent free-time; thesaurus-skimming!).
~ McDonald’s ice cream cone, which is only 150 calories and soooo much tastier than bitter (400 calorie!) pinkberry.
~ looking through old pictures, seeing how far we’ve come and how much fun we’ve had along the way.
~ kleenex with lotion and aloe. i can’t find them here, but i love them.
~ black & white checkered floors (and this cool pink fridge, too!)
~ the perfect v-neck t-shirt
~ carrying a handkerchief.
~ the way Oliver (age two) says “i see a taxi”, which sounds exactly like he’s saying “i see a sexy!” …it makes me giggle
~ Vitamin Water 10 (all the antioxidant-stuff + only 10 calories + tasty)
~ the lucky penny i found at Graceland.
~ serendipity
~ beautiful old hymns sung in soul-stirring ways. music is a direct line to spirituality for me.
~ little kids with tennis rackets and bunny-jackets:

You should buy Hard Times Come Again No More on iTunes… James Taylor and company at his best on this Stephen Foster song.

YAY for laundry service!! OH, if only they would come to my house, too. You have all of the good stuff … fluff and fold, magic pancakes, whoopie cookies…
