. . . . .

oh hi, hi, hello there. busy week (in a years-long series of busy weeks) at the RightMoon Casa. the more religious folk call it “Holy Week”, but i usually refer to it as “the week when i pretty much live in church, sing my cords out, and take home a good paycheck”. (it sounds so pious when i put it that way, yeah?) add to that a (very treasured, awesome) houseguest who’s arriving on the red-eye flight from seattle in the morning, and the (unexpected, but also awesome) guests we had on saturday (as their flight back to denver from prague was cancelled, and i just can’t let people spend an unattended day in the city!), and you’ll start to understand that things are at a go-go pace around here. still, my days aren’t bad, and even this persistent sore throat* isn’t going to stress me out this week.

* is it just me, or is this the harshest allergy season in years?!

it’s tuesday, it’s stopped raining (although not so sunny that i feel guilty for still being in my pj’s), i’m on my second cup of coffee, and we’re meeting a good friend for lunch. good times. let’s do a list, shall we?

[things i love, right this very minute]

~ pat’s papers, a roundup of the daily newspapers from my very favorite morning newsman, the boyishly affable Pat Kiernan. yeah, i’d like to move to cape cod or carmel-by-the-sea someday, but in reality i can’t even consider it because they don’t have Kiernan on the morning news there, and he’s that good.

~ the cloud appreciation society

~ orange and very light blue, together or apart. spirit-calming and happy.

~ chocolate-covered orange peels. yeah, that sounds awful, right?! i thought so, too. but much to my surprise, they are actually perfect little choco-balls of orange-taste without any odd texture issues.

~ Porto Rico Importing Co., the tiny overcrowded and very new york-y place where you can get coffee by the pound, loose tea by the pound, and chocolate-covered orange peels.

~ afternoon tea served up with a spot of milk in my new alice in wonderland teapot. magically delicious!

~ sweet ‘n low, which i prefer to buy in a big powder-y bag instead of the little pink packets. i have noticed a proliferation of public places that serve coffee but only offer sugar, equal, and splenda (hi. i’m looking at you mcdonald’s and disneyworld.)….and it’s a trend i do NOT appreciate. equal just isn’t sweet enough for my need-sweet-but-not-calories taste, and splenda turns my stomach inside out.

~ california pizza kitchen (so much food on this list! maybe lunch will be early today…)

~ the aveda shampure smell

~ getting the New Yorker Magazine every week and turning straight to the short story.

~ watching emma ride her bike in circles around the apartment for hours on end. kids are like hamsters (only cuter and bigger).

~ bud vases and old milk jars

~ milli vanilli
