this weekend. the kind of warm weather that gives you just enough of a glimpse of spring to realize you might just make it through the cold days. the kind of sunshine that makes you want to play in Central Park and meet up at a sidewalk cafe (the ones that pop up all over the neighborhood throughout the warmer seasons here, when the restaurants stretch their boundaries and spring to life with people enjoying the warm air and watching the scenery). the kind of warmth where your regular coat is too heavy so you grab a jacket (and a light scarf and some gloves for the walk home) and head out and just start walking. the kind of evenings that are still winter-cool but filled with the echoing soundscape of spring; loud laughter, little feet running down the sidewalk, the gurgling fountains outside our window…
it’s all fleeting. the weather changes, you get your head stuck in whatever chores and must-do’s and line-items come up in the day, and sometimes you just forget to look outside (even when you are outside). you forget to take those deep breaths and drink in the little moments. but sometimes when the sun hits you just right, or a rainstorm sweeps past in that perfect way, or snow falls lightly and quietly and so still, it feels like you’ve found yourself all over again.
