tired, sore, melancholy but optimistic, blonder than yesterday, admitting that lime-salted corn chips and a few pieces of good chocolate were not the ideal dinner, drinking one of my favorite teas, laughing at some things i read on facebook, laughing at myself for being on facebook, wanting to visit my friends in CA, GA, the pacific northwest, even indiana, and wishing we could all do a big girls’ retreat, wishing i were a better writer, needing to get a more reliable phone, putting the pedal to the metal, looking on ebay for Thomas the Tank Engine stuff to pacify a serious addiction in our household, looking through old vacation pictures, thinking about making photo albums for real this time, not listening to enough music, finishing today’s Times crossword puzzle, looking for upcoming auditions, updating and making a few more lists, using an orange felt-tipped marker, thinking about my 7th grade geography teacher and how much he taught me about the civil rights movement (and how little he taught me about geography), wishing we had fresh flowers, poring over the monthly budget, still waiting on two more tax forms, always dreaming of the beach, wearing jeans for a change, wearing Jo Malone perfume and my Superhero necklace for positive energy, coming up with big plans to celebrate sunday’s 55-degree forecast, really happy with the new schedule, cleaning and re-arranging the house from top to bottom (and becoming resigned to the fact that after two days of scrubbing, the bathroom floor just refuses to look perfectly clean), getting ready to read a book, desperately needing to answer emails and send thank-you notes, designing Valentines, needing to get back on track…
